It was at a rally for Alabama Republican Senate candidate Luther Strange when the Eighth-Grader-in-Chief Donald Trump came fully out of his closet, exposing himself for what he really is – "Please, Mr. President, tell us what you really think!" – an unrepentant bigot.

Here is the C-SPAN video. There are also a couple on YouTube of course.

Since the "Internet News Media" is based on a "copy and paste model" – CNN, AP, NBC, The Times, etc. report first, and everyone else copies from them and pastes it into their site, adding commentary. I do that too, of course, but it took me a while to get the full quotes in context. Most had just copied the same small snippets.

A full transcript, with a few minor glitches, can be found here, a rarity these days. (Visit Factbase to find out more.)

It was 38 minutes into his nearly hour and a half long (rambling) speech:

“Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners when somebody disrespects our flag to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now, out, he's fired. He's fired.’ [Applause, Audience Chants USA] You know, some owner is going to do that.

“He's going to say, ‘That guy that disrespects our flag, he's fired.’ [Applause] And that owner, they don't know it, they don't know it, they're friends of mine, many of them, they don't know it, they'll be the most popular person for a week. They'll be the most popular person in this country, because that's a total disrespect of our heritage. That's a total disrespect for everything we stand for, OK? Everything that we stand for.”

"Our heritage, Mr. Trump?" You do not know the meaning of the word, for the players are actually kneeling down to make a point about some real, deeply-rooted problems with "our heritage". "What is it that we stand for, Mr. Trump?" Automatons standing for myth and vague ideas of war as something good, mostly.

Continuing directly:

“And I know we have freedoms and we have freedom of choice and many, many different freedoms. But you know what? It's still totally disrespectful. And, you know, when the NFL ratings are down massively, massively... [Applause] The NFL ratings are down massively.

“Now, the number-one reason happens to be that they like watching what's happening on, you know, with yours truly. [Applause] They like what's happening.”

"Is everything about you, Mr. Trump? You are the reason why the NFL ratings are down massively, massively?" sighing, face-palmed, head-shaking

Continuing directly:

“Because, you know, today if you hit too hard, right, they hit too hard, 15 yards, throw him out of the game. They had that last week. I watched for a couple of minutes and two guys just really a beautiful tackle, boom, 15 yards. The referee gets on television, his wife it sitting at home, she's so proud of him, they're ruining the game. Right? [Applause] They're ruining the game. Hey, look, that's what they want to do, they want to hit, OK? They want to hit.”

"What is that brain disease players get from hits to the head, again, Mr. President? No, not yours! Theirs!"

“But it is hurting the game. But you know what's hurting the game more than that? When people like yourselves turn on television and you see those people taking the knee when they're playing our great National Anthem. [Booing] The only thing you could do better is if you see it, even if it's one player, leave the stadium. I guarantee it will stop. Things will stop. Just pick up and leave. Pick up and leave. Not the same game anymore, anyway.”

(Emphasis mine.) And there it is in all it's un-glory, the baring of his dark insides for all to see, "those people".

If a sliver of a silver lining can be found here it will be in another kind of rally, a rallying of many people across the nation to condemn this petty, petty man, and to support the NFL, the teams and the players.

"Divisive comments like these demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL, our great game and all of our players."
  – Roger Goodell, league commissioner.

"We will never back down. We no longer can afford to stick to sports."
  – DeMaurice Smith, executive director of the NFL Players Association.
